  • Otoscopy or an examination of the outer and middle portions of the ear.
  • Tympanometry or a test to determine the function of the middle ear. 
  • Acoustic reflex test or a test to ensure that the muscles in the middle portion of the ear are working properly. 

Next your audiologist will perform a hearing test to determine how your brain receives and interprets sound as it travels through your ears and mastoid bone. This evaluation typically takes 15 to 30 minutes to complete. Once the test is complete, your audiologist will make appropriate recommendations based on your results.
