Treatment and Therapy for Fall Prevention

At High Level Speech & Hearing Center, we provide comprehensive fall prevention treatment and therapy services designed to help our clients avoid the disability associated with fall injuries. Learn more about the importance of balance testing and what you or your family member should expect when you visit us for this important screening.

What is Balance Testing?

With state-of-the-art equipment such as the videonystagmography (VNG) test, we perform comprehensive balance testing to assist clients who have experienced the following conditions:

  • Dizziness

  • Concussions

  • Migraines

  • Hip and knee replacements

  • Fall risk

  • Head trauma or traumatic brain injury

  • Motion sickness

  • Autoimmune disease

  • Sensorineural hearing loss

  • Mal de debarquement syndrome

  • Chemotherapy or radiation treatment

  • Tinnitus

What is the Vestibular System?

The vestibular system includes the parts of the inner ear and brain that process the sensory information involved with controlling balance and eye movements. If disease or injury damages these processing areas, vestibular disorders can result. Our VNG testing equipment assesses the balance system and inner ear for trauma or genetic deficiencies, which often result in the need for rehabilitation therapy.

Why Is Balance Testing Important?

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately 800,000 individuals have a stroke every year in the U.S., often signified by dizziness, mobility issues, and loss of balance. In addition, more than 40% of adults older than 40 experience dizziness or vertigo at some point. Approximately 646,000 individuals die from falls in the U.S. every year. These serious conditions require sophisticated medical treatments and therapy. High Level Speech & Hearing offers a comprehensive hearing and balance evaluation to determine your risk for falling and provides treatments and therapy to reduce the risk.
